Details:
LEED Gold. Renovation of 6,500 sq ft. of existing laboratory space. In addition to the renovations, an expansion of the link between two buildings was constructed to accommodate approximately 700 SF of program space. The addition extends the existing link between the second and third levels of two buildings. The intent of the design is to provide one large laboratory, in a layout that encourages the entire lab group to interact in a well organized and safe layout. Write up desks are located in separate glazed enclosures along the west elevation in keeping with the professor's stated safety requirements and providing access to daylight for each researcher.
Support spaces included an instrumentation facility, chemical storage room, glove box room, cold room and seminar room/kitchenette facility. The scope of work included the total renovation of the laboratories, the addition of a new men's room and updated women’s restrooms.
