Preservation Alliance’s 2022 Mayor Thomas M. Menino Legacy Award

Project Description

Selected as the OPM to manage the interior and façade renovations of a 100 year old building on busy Commonwealth Avenue, this complex façade work included the instillation of arched, expansive windows to bring in natural light while simultaneously preserving the historic exterior of the building. The interior renovation included the school's art gallery, student spaces and theater totaling 43,000 SF.

LeftField also provided full MEP oversite to ensure we were maximizing the useful life of all major MEP equipment while minimizing the energy costs to Boston University. With that, all windows included smart glass to help aid in heating and cooling.

The biggest challenge on this project was minimizing disruption to the City, BU Community and Pedestrians while maintaining safety as a priority. This project was a great success and won the 2022 Mayor Thomas M. Menino Legacy Award by the Preservation Alliance.
