Project Description
Following the successful management of the Billerica Pinehurst Fire Station Project, LeftField was once again engaged by the Town of Billerica to oversee the new North Billerica Fire Station Project. LeftField assisted with the designer procurement and collaborated with the Town and Galante Architecture Studio to complete the project’s feasibility study. The team considered multiple potential sites, ultimately selecting a new location at 184 Boston Road, previously a petrol station—adding an extra layer of complexity to the project. The Town is now in the process of acquiring the site, with LeftField supporting the site investigation.
The project is currently in the schematic design phase, with the architect working on building layout options. The new station will be a single-story facility with a 3-bay apparatus area, decontamination space, turnout gear room, fitness room, bunk rooms, dayroom, locker room, and office space. The design also includes a parking lot for firefighters and visitors, along with engine access to both Boston Road and Treble Cove Road, which will reduce response times for emergency calls.
Lessons learned from the previous fire station project will be invaluable in identifying the Fire Department's needs and helping create a state-of-the-art station for Billerica’s first responders and residents—a facility they can truly be proud of.
